A Family Law Specialist
Kurt began his career as an Associate Attorney at Henneke, Fraim, & Dawes, P.C., where he focused on family law. During his tenure, he represented clients across Genesee, Shiawassee, and Oakland counties, handling both virtual and in-court motion hearings. He was responsible for drafting a wide range of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests. Kurt's role also involved client interaction, meeting strict deadlines, fact investigation, and developing comprehensive legal strategies.
Prior to that, Kurt served as an Associate Attorney at Feifel Gualazzi Personal Injury Law Firm, working closely with Founding/Managing Partner Peter Feifel on multimillion-dollar lawsuits. He played a crucial role in drafting extensive mediation and pre-trial briefs, managing complex client files, and preparing clients for depositions and insurance investigations. His responsibilities included conducting detailed fact-finding discovery tasks, establishing timelines, gathering witness statements, and researching statutes and case law to develop effective legal strategies.
Early Passion for Family Law and Estate Planning
Kurt's legal journey began with an internship at Melissa G. Leckie, PLLC, where he focused on family law and estate planning cases. He worked closely with experienced attorneys conducting research, strategizing, and preparing supporting briefs. Kurt also took client calls, observed hearings, attended mediations and client meetings, and drafted motions.
As a student volunteer at the Ingham County Probate Court, Kurt performed on-site investigatory work for the court-appointed guardian ad litem. This involved conducting interviews, gathering evidence, assessing the safety and wellness of those being cared for, drafting reports, and presenting findings to the court.
Academic Achievement
Kurt earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in April 2014, graduating Cum Laude. He received the Bluebook Award in Advanced Practice Skills Family Law and a 50% academic scholarship based on his LSAT score.
